Robyn Ferrell
Robyn Ferrell is honorary professor of cultural studies at Sydney University, a visiting fellow at the Australian National University and member of the Coetzee Centre for Creative Practice at the University of Adelaide.
After beginning as a journalist on The Sydney Morning Herald, Robyn Ferrell completed a PhD in philosophy. She taught aesthetics, cultural studies and creative writing at several Australian universities including Macquarie University and Melbourne University before stepping down from her teaching position and focussing her effort on researching and writing.
A one-time recipient of the Australia Council Nancy Keesing Studio in the Cité des Arts in Paris, she has received several writing grants as well as Australian Research Council grants for research into Indigenous art and other projects. She has a long publication list of books and articles including books of philosophy, creative nonfiction and journalism. Her most recent book is Philosophical essays on Free Stuff (Lexington 2021).
She writes regularly for newspapers and magazines on books, art and culture.
