Somatic Session with Luis Lara Malvacías
Sat Oct. 30th 3pm
NYC Micro-Residency
Transart is pleased to host Transart MFA alum Luis Lara Malvacías in offering a unique interactive session exploring movement outside of preconceived notions of choreography.
Creator of 3RD CLASS CITIZEN, Luis is a Venezuelan queer immigrant choreographer and trans-disciplinary artist whose body of work has focused on ideas of transformation, multiplicity, and authorship. In his choreography and trans-disciplinary projects, he questions preconceived ideas of choreography, and modes of production and presentation.
Since 1995, Luis has presented his works in NY and performed worldwide, from standard venues to unconventional spaces. Among others, his current projects include the creation of 26 collaborative duets (From AtoZ) with his life partner Jeremy Nelson examining TIME and performance, using significant signposts connected with life and aging. These duets look into issues surrounding mature dance makers agency and inquiring into the relationship of the body thinking, the body processing, the body making, and the body performing.
