Christine Nippe describes ‘Rinde (Bark)’ as a dedication to sensitivity as a recurring current in our time. Even if the surface appears seemingly banal, it has a strong connection to the content behind it. She states that Knorr wants to make the human ability for empathy practical as a social process and conveys an image of community. He derived the title of the exhibition from the materialism of one of his latest works: Depression Elevations Tree Hug.

Daniel Knorr (1968) is above all a transgressor. The Bucharest-born contemporary artist is known for using materials such as cocaine, potholes and smoke in his projects to provoke debates about political and theoretical content. Working in Berlin since 1998, he has been sharing his life between Berlin and Hong Kong for a few years.

In 2005, he exhibited in the Romanian pavilion at the Venice Biennale. His work "Expiration Movement" (2017) was one of the most commented works of the 14th documenta in Kassel. Since then, he has become one of the most important artists of his generation. @daniel__knorr
