Witness the transformation as bladderwrack seaweed, having resided within the gallery for over two months, becomes the Intertidal Pill, a powder capsule, a powerful medicine derived from the alteration, landfill, and land grabs that have existed since the colonization of the 520-mile Lenapehoking, NY shoreline.
In a delicate dance with a mortar and pestle, andrea's hands will produce sounds together with dried-out indigenous bladderwrack. It was said in ancient times “that great care should be given to the preparation of herbs for medical use.” The close interplay between bladderwrack's transformation and andrea’s hand in the act of grinding is done with special care through sound and movement.
