This wiki is the result of a 5-day workshop titled Expanded Remix, taught at Transart Institute's summer 2008 residency in Linz, Austria. The goal was to build a resource of artists, musicians, thinkers, theorists, critics, cultural practices, social functions, objects, situations, conceptual ideas, etc that fall under each day's rubric. The result is a deep resource that expands the ways of thinking about the remix. This wiki page will stay accessible after the class has ended and, when this course is offered again, will be built upon to create a growing and transforming resource.

Each day after an initial discussion, students were asked to add items as part of their homework assignment. These were sometimes as simple as an artist or musician's name (links provided when possible) or as extensive as a paragraph expanding on an idea.

This whole process was of compiling things that are a stretch, that don’t exactly work. The intention was to push the process, not catalog it. In other words, the goal wasn't (necessarily) to list the obvious or to find the limits of the remix but to extend it; this is, in essence, the opposite process than cataloging, since the intended is to goal for this wiki is to make cataloging impossible.
